I've been wanting to share these for a few months now, but when it comes to priorities, updating my blog is near the bottom.
Each year, South by Southwest (SXSW) invites popular podcasters to do live recordings of their shows in front of a SXSW audience. This year (2018), they invited Natch Beaut with Jackie Johnson to take over the stage, and since she's my sister and I more or less "manage" her, I tagged along with my camera to visually document what happened.
Her guest was none other than Rachel Bloom, creator of the CW's hilarious musical sitcom "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." For a list of everything they talked about, visit the episode recap.
It was a great experience seeing how a production such as SXSW works behind the scenes. And actually watching one of my favorite podcasts record live was a treat, too. I even got to participate, having to drop the camera while makeup artist Erica Miles taught the audience how to apply the perfect cat eye with a pencil liner. Never has anyone ever cared so much about what I looked like.
Unfortunately for the actual recording, I wasn't allowed to walk around. Or use a flash (which I desperately needed). But when it comes to photography, a photographer needs to be flexible. Regardless, enjoy the photos I got!
