Is there something that's (big word alert) quintessentially you? Sassy shoes? A football? A particular shade of lipstick?
Bring it with you. You'd be amazed how much your favorite teddy bear from when you were five can enhance your experience.
If you get camera shy (and let's face it, most of us do), a prop can give you something else to focus on besides my lens.
